The Waverly Police Department is an accredited, full-service law enforcement agency located in Tennessee. The department is composed of 2 main divisions: patrol and investigations. The patrol division is responsible for responding to calls for service, traffic enforcement and general patrol tasks. The patrol division includes the K9 unit and Special Response Team. The criminal investigations division is responsible for investigating major crimes and cases that are not routinely handled by a patrol officer. All officers within the department are also trained firefighters. The city of Waverly began integrating law enforcement and the fire service in 2004. The department received accreditation in 2013 under the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, a Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation program. The department is the smallest within the state to receive accreditation.
