The McMinn County Jail is a medium to maximum security facility and houses adult inmates who have been charged with misdemeanor and felony crimes. Inmates are booked, classified and housed according to the crimes they are charged with. The facility has a capacity of 350 inmates.

How to Send Mail to an Inmate

Inmates are allowed to receive mail sent through the U.S. Postal Service. Inmates are only allowed to receive postcards. The only exception is for pictures. Envelopes containing pictures must be postmarked between the 1st and 7th of each month.

Commissary deposits can be made to an inmate’s account online, over the phone or in person. To make a deposit over the phone, call 1-866-394-0490. McMinn County Jail uses a third party company called Smart Deposit to accept commissary deposits online. To make a deposit online, visit the Smart Deposit website. To make a deposit in person, visit the kiosk located inside the McMinn County Just Center. To make a deposit of any kind, the jail’s name, inmate’s first and last name and inmate’s ID number will be required.

Visitation Hours

Inmates are allowed to receive visitors. An inmate must fill out the visitor form before receiving visitors. The inmate must list the names of all expected visitors and the Sheriff’s Office will conduct a background check before approving them. If a person has been convicted of a felony in the past 2 years the person will not be able to visit. Visitation schedules are posted in each housing unit.

The McMinn County Jail updates their inmate roster every 24 hours. The inmate will be listed on the roster and will show their name, mugshot, charges, arrest history, bond amount, days in jail, their sentence and their visitation schedule.

Police and inmate records are available through the McMinn County Sheriff’s Office. A records request form must be submitted in person.
