How to Send Mail to an Inmate

Inmates are allowed to receive mail sent through the U.S. Postal Service. Mail will be opened and searched for contraband, in exception of legal document mail.

Money can be added to an inmate commissary account over the phone, online or by using the kiosk in the jail lobby. To add money over the phone, call 1-866-394-0490. Online deposits can be made using the 3rd party website, Smart Deposit.

Visitation Hours

Visitation is available onsite or online. Online visitation is scheduled and accessed through a 3rd party company, City TeleCoin.

Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Onsite visitation is on a first come, first served basis.

The Grainger County Detention Facility updates their inmate roster every 24 hours. All inmates in the facility are listed in alphabetical order by last name. The inmate’s race, sex, date of birth and arrest date are listed on the roster. The public can also see the inmate’s charges and bond information.

All record requests must be submitted in writing. The request coordinator has 7 business days to respond to the request.
