How to Send Mail to an Inmate

Inmates are allowed to receive mail. All letters and packages are searched for contraband. Inmates are NOT allowed to receive greeting cards, letters written in colored ink, foreign substances, inappropriate pictures, postcards, magazines or books, stamps, blank paper, envelopes, money, stickers, labels or tape. All pictures sent to inmates must be black and white.

The Cheatham County Jail uses VendEngine for commissary services. Online and onsite deposits are available. Onsite deposits can be made at the kiosk in the detention center lobby. Online deposits are made on the VendEngine website. You may also call 855-836-3364 to add money over the phone.

Visitation Hours

All inmates are eligible to receive onsite visitation. Visitation times are as follows:

Males:
Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m

Females:
Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Protective Custody Inmates:
Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Video Visitation is also available. Video visitation is available 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

Cheatham County Sheriff Information

The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office is a law enforcement agency located in Tennessee. The office is composed of 5 divisions including administration, patrol, corrections, criminal investigations and drug enforcement. The patrol division is the first on the scene of a crime or an emergency situation. Patrol consists of 4 squads working 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Each squad is led by a shift supervisor and all squads are commanded by the lieutenant. The criminal investigations division is responsible for solving crimes ranging from simple vandalism to homicide. An Investigator is always on call.
